About Luis

Luis Suarez has proudly called Ontario home for over 24 years, ever since his parents migrated from Jalisco, Mexico. Growing up in Ontario as a DREAMer and the son of a hardworking union forklift driver and a dedicated warehouse worker, Luis understood from a young age the implications and impact of being from a working family and union household. His parents sacrificed their dreams to give him and his sisters the opportunity to pursue theirs, and despite the challenges, Luis became the first person in his family to attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree—a testament to his dedication and perseverance.

Navigating the city’s limited public transportation system to get to school, caring for his three younger sisters, and learning how to protect his parents’ rights in the workplace were all experiences that ignited Luis’s passion for policy and health. He is a product of the Ontario Montclair School District and has channeled his personal experiences into a mission to improve the lives of his community members.

With over a decade of experience in public policy, Luis has been a driving force behind significant legislation at both the local and state levels. Luis worked to expand healthcare access to all, including our youth, and has advocated for legislation that supports small businesses. His efforts have focused on creating equitable opportunities for everyone, especially for working families and vulnerable communities.

However, Luis’s dedication to Ontario goes beyond public policy. As a local small business owner, he operates a gym that champions inclusivity and wellness. Luis understands the need to invest in entrepreneurship opportunities for working families that bring sustainability to their lives but also good job opportunities to residents.

As a person who mirrors the diversity and spirit of Ontario—being Latino, from a working-class family, and a small business owner— Luis’ promise is to connect with the residents in our district by engaging in processes that allow you to be part of decision-making. Together, we can build an Ontario that addresses and excels in meeting people’s needs like good quality jobs, housing, and a city with economic strength.
